Rangers transfer business shows Gerrard means business in title race
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard wrapped up the seventh signing of his reign when the Gers confirmed Jon Flanagan’s arrival at Ibrox – and the Light Blues’ business in the transfer market shows that they mean business in the title race this season.
The Ibrox giants could only muster a third-place finish in the Scottish Premiership last season but after the arrival of the likes of Scott Arfield, Connor Goldson and Flanagan, Gerrard’s side are clearly taking massive strides forward in their attempts to catch Celtic.
In recent years when the Gers have been looking at rebuilding their side, previous managers have look at the League One and League Two done south – while Gerrard is bringing in players from the Premier League and Championship.
The Ibrox giants needed to back Gerrard in the transfer market this summer if there was going to be any chance of giving Celtic a fight for the title – and the Gers board have kept up their side of the bargain.
With more signings almost certain to arrive at Ibrox as the summer continues and Gerrard manages to move on the deadwood in his squad, there will likely be another jump in quality toward the end of transfer window.
