Kieran Maguire verdict on late-window Rangers signing spree after Kamara update via Campbell
Rangers will “continue to be cautious” in terms of expenditure this summer and prioritise contract renewals instead.
So says finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider with Glen Kamara reportedly on the brink of signing a new deal.
The Athletic‘s Jordan Campbell wrote on 19 August that the 25-year-old has already agreed terms with Rangers and is expected to sign imminently.
Kamara was one of Steven Gerrard’s star performers last season and, as revealed by this site in May, is attracting interest his from old club Arsenal.
Football Insider reveald in July that Rangers are also confident Connor Goldson will sign a new deal before the transfer window shuts.
And Maguire predicts that Rangers’ contracts-first policy is set to continue.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “I think they’ll have budgeted for the Champions League group stage because they’re quite a cautious club.
“If we take a look at their activity over the summer, it’s been noticeable that Rangers haven’t splashed the cash.
“I think they are trying to ensure their regular first-teamers are locked into the club. That’s key.
“I think they would have been prepared to flex had they got into the Champions League. But it’s possible we might not see a whole lot more now.
“I think they’ll now continue to be cautious in terms of additional expenditure.
“They went all in to get ’55. Objective achieved. Now, they’ve got to be prudent and sensible. But fans always want more than that.”
Juninho Bacuna, who joined for an undisclosed fee, became Rangers’ first fee-paying signing on 19 August.
John Lundstram, Fashion Sakala and Nnamdi Ofoborh have all signed on free transfers
