Rangers’ updated Russell Martin sack stance revealed, fans in mutiny
Russell Martin retains the backing of the Rangers owners for now despite losing the support of many of the fans, sources have told Football Insider.
Martin has had a terrible start to life in charge at Ibrox, failing to win a single one of his first four Scottish Premiership games, as well as seeing his side crash out of the Champions League.
Rangers fans are already turning against their new manager, who is coming under increasing pressure with each negative result.
However, sources say that the board remain behind Martin for the time being and understand that he needs time to turn things around, with there being no plans in place to sack him imminently.

Russell Martin must win back Rangers fans with results
While Martin’s job is safe for the time being, there is no doubt that he has to start getting results if he wants a long-term spell with the Glasgow giants.
Rangers’ 0-0 draw with Celtic in the Old Firm did little to improve the mood around the club, but it was at least an improved performance compared to the opening three games.
The former Southampton and Swansea boss will be hoping the derby day stalemate can kickstart a better run of form and help win back the support of the fans.
Celtic are far from the finished article either, with a lot of supporter discontent around the club, and if Rangers can click into gear, then there is no reason why they can’t challenge their rivals for the title.
Rangers joined by Championship sides in race for winger
Meanwhile, Rangers were joined by Championship outfits Sheffield United and Coventry City in their deadline day efforts to sign Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, sources have told Football Insider.

The 22-year-old was linked with a move away from Palace in the latter stages of the window, but ended up staying at Selhurst Park.
Martin’s side remain keen on Rak-Sakyi and could look to reignite their interest in the January transfer window, but will not be alone in their pursuit.
Football Insider revealed on 5 September that Crystal Palace will entertain offers for Rak-Sakyi in the mid-season window despite turning down summer bids.
