Reliable journalist delivers fascinating update on Newcastle takeover after Ashley comments

A written bid for £250m for Newcastle was submitted by PCP Partners in November, according to a reliable journalist.
Keith Downie, a journalist with Sky Sports, revealed the fascinating update on the Newcastle takeover on the day that Mike Ashley officially confirmed that talks were off.
Downie went on to say that his sources say that bid is still on the table, despite the strong words from Ashley earlier in the day.
He revealed the news on his official Twitter page on Tuesday evening.

Earlier on Monday Downie had released quotes from Mike Ashley which said that “there is no deal on the table – or even under discussion.
“Attempts to reach a deal with A.Staveley & PCP have proved exhausting, frustrating and a complete waste of time.”

Football Insider verdict:
Newcastle fans don’t need any more excuses to dislike Mike Ashley but if he’s lying about a bid not being on the table, then their relationship will sink to even greater lows. It’s a dark day for Newcastle fans the world over, with real optimism about the takeover now seemingly gone just when Rafa Benitez needs new funds to strengthen a team that’s really struggling to stay in the Premier League. Wed’ imagine all football fans will feel sympathy with Newcastle supporters today.
In other Newcastle United news, Benitez has hinted at the return of a first team outcast soon.
