Rangers confident massive deal will be done in 48 hours after key development - report

Rangers are increasingly confident that Steven Gerrard will become their new manager and are expecting him to say yes in the next 48 hours, according to a report.

The Guardian claims that with the decision now in Gerrard’s hands, Rangers are confident that he will confirm the job over the weekend.

They claim that he knows exactly how much Rangers will have to spend over the summer – a potential sticking point in the deal and a key development in the story.

The Guardian also claims that Gary McAllister has been proposed as his Rangers assistant, while Neil Warnock was also being considered for the role.

However, Gerrard is now the clear frontrunner with it becoming clear that the job is his if he wants it.

This is a step up from previous reports that said he wanted assurances over the investment that Rangers would make. The Guardian claim that he is is full knowledge of the money he will have at his disposal and that Rangers are confident that he is going to say yes. That would make it seem like the Rangers deal is all but done, with Gerrard set to be announced as new manager in the next few days.
