Celtic will be linked with many players in the next few months, and the latest of these is Hull City forward Abel Hernandez.
Italian football news website TuttoMercato reports that the Hoops have made an offer to the Uruguay international, who is out of contract at the end of the season, and they are waiting to hear back from the player’s representatives.
The 27-year-old has had serious injury problems this season, with an operation on his Achilles keeping him out of action for around five months.
Hernandez has recently returned though and is in excellent scoring form for Hull, with seven goals in eight appearances this season.
It is his goal record which makes him a player that the Hoops should take a risk on, not his injury problems.
This season, despite having three strikers at times fighting for one position in the first-team, the Hoops have struggled to score goals, and indeed Rangers have scored more goals than the Hoops in the Scottish Premiership so far this season.
Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths have both struggled with form and injury, whilst Odsonne Edouard has been in and out of the side.
With that in mind, and doubts over Edouard and Dembele’s long-term future at the club, Hernandez is a player worth taking a punt on, especially on a free transfer.
He knows the way to goal and if he can keep fit he could well be an astute signing for the Hoops.
