Reports: Newcastle attacker eyed by top-flight duo, club want £14m
By Derek Smithson
Newcastle will only consider selling attacker Aleksandar Mitrovic for £14million, according to a report.
The Chronicle claim that the Magpies would need to receive a £14million bid if they are to agree the permanent sale of the 22-year-old.
It is understood that the north-east club would be prepared to send the Serbia international out on loan and monitor his progress over the next 12 months.
Mitrovic’s future at St James’ Park has come under question as two Turkish top-flight clubs have shown their interest in his signature.
Turkish outlet spor.mynet.com claim that Fenerbahce are planning a move for the striker, with manager Aykut Kocaman set to open talks about a loan move.

Meanwhile, Turkish outlet Fotospur report that Besiktas will fly to England for face-to-face talks about a potential move for the forward.
Mitrovic has divided his opinion at Newcastle since his arrival in 2015 and it’s unclear whether he will play a role in the club’s return to the Premier League next season.
He helped the club obtain promotion from the Championship last season, scoring six goals and supplying six assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.
Manager Rafael Benitez is looking to bolster his squad ahead of next year and Mitrovic has shown in the past that he can score goals in the top flight.
The forward managed nine goals during the club’s relegation in the 2015/16 campaign and was one of the few players to come out of that season with his reputation unscathed.
Football Insider verdict:
Newcastle should look to keep Mitrovic for next season and fans need to remember that he is still just 22. The Serbian did cost £14million when he first arrived, but needs time and trust to repay that fee. He has shown that he can be a handful for defenders and offers a physical strength that Benitez’s side potentially lacks. Newcastle may need that outlet ball next season and it’s difficult to imagine Dwight Gayle being able to hold the ball up. Mitrovic should certainly feature in the first team plans for next season and can play an important squad role, despite them being linked with Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham.
In other Newcastle transfer news, they have made their 27-year-old midfielder available.
