Revealed: Crystal Palace’s stance on Jean-Philippe Mateta amid Tottenham interest
Jean-Philippe Mateta is enjoying another impressive season so far for Crystal Palace after a strong start to the season at Selhurst Park.
Oliver Glasner’s side beat Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield to progress into the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup, getting back to winning ways after a difficult couple of weeks.
In the Premier League, the Eagles have dropped to tenth, but are optimistic of turning around their form following their midweek success away from home.
Mateta has been a crucial part of Palace’s success, including their recent FA Cup and Community Shield victories, and they are pushing for more success under Glasner.
However, his performances have attracted interest from a number of top clubs, who could look to prise him away from Selhurst Park with his contract set to expire in 2027.

Crystal Palace plan contract talks with Jean-Philippe Mateta
Football Insider revealed on 24 October that Crystal Palace could be forced to accept offers for Mateta if he does not commit to a new deal at Selhurst Park.
However, the Eagles remain determined to tie the striker down to an extended contract, and are planning to continue talks with his entourage before the end of the season.
That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the France international remains a crucial part of Palace’s long-term plans.
“Palace still want Mateta to extend his contract,” he told Football Insider.
“It’s going to take some judgement on Palace’s end to assess how they think the discussions are going, and then to plan accordingly.
“If it starts becoming clear that he’s not going to sign, they want to maximise the fee they’re going to get.
“I don’t think they’ll let it get to the same situation with Guehi where if they don’t take the offer he’s going to leave on a free, they’ll sell him before that.
“But from what I’m told, I don’t think there have been any indications that he won’t sign a new deal, and things are still in the balance at the moment.
“Palace, of course, don’t want to lose him. He’s a crucial part of their plans, and that’s been clear with how important he has been not just with his goals, but with his all-round play.

“They’d certainly miss him if he were to leave, so I expect talks over that new contract will be ongoing as they try to convince him to stay.
“It sounds by all accounts like he’s happy at Palace, so that will play in their favour.
“If it were up to me, he’d stay at Palace, because I think the environment, the level they’re at, and the way they set up, suits him perfectly. He might not get that elsewhere.”
This comes after Football Insider revealed Crystal Palace will turn down offers for Mateta in January after also rejecting moves during the summer window.
Tottenham join race to sign Mateta after contract news
Football Insider revealed on 29 October that Tottenham are interested in signing Mateta should he become available thanks to his form for Crystal Palace.
During the summer, Liverpool held talks with Mateta’s representatives, while Tottenham saw a late enquiry dismissed, and Atalanta saw a £30million offer turned down.
However, there is a growing feeling he could soon become available, with Thomas Frank’s side preparing to reignite their interest amid concerns about their strikers.

Given the uncertainty surrounding both Richarlison and Dominic Solanke, their scouts have already begun making efforts to identify potential centre-forward options.
Tottenham were also linked with Harry Kane amid speculation that he could be set to leave Bayern Munich thanks to a release clause which becomes active in 2026.
