Robertson and Rangers chiefs will be worried by Goldson update via Sky Sports - Agbonlahor
Connor Goldson’s contract situation may be worrying for Rangers chiefs, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward insisted manager Steven Gerrard will only be focused on retaining the league title and qualifying for the Champions League group stages.
Football Insider reported at the beginning of July that Rangers are confident Goldson will commit his future to the club.
That message was reiterated by manager Steven Gerrard when he addressed his defensive totem’s future in a Sky Sports interview.
The 28-year-old’s current Ibrox contract expires in the summer of 2022.
But his failure to put pen to paper opens the door to a move next year, and that will be a concern for the board, including managing director Stewart Robertson and director of football Ross Wilson.

“It can be worrying,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“But I’m sure Steven Gerrard will know that’s not his department, the contracts. He’ll say what players he wants and what players he doesn’t want.
“It’s down to chief executives and directors to sort out contracts that work for the player.
“He’ll just do the best with what he’s got. I’m sure he’ll try and bring in some new players that will try to help them qualify for the Champions League and win the title.”
Goldson’s 162 games for Rangers across all competitions have yielded five assists and 16 goals, including a brace against Celtic last season.
The Englishman moved to Ibrox from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer of 2018.
