Rodgers tipped to accept Man United 'offer' after source's reveal - pundit

Brendan Rodgers would jump at the chance to become the next Man United manager, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker suggested Leicester City’s mixed start to the season would mean Rodgers would like a new challenge.

A United source has told Football Insider that Rodgers is the club’s top target to replace Solskjaer and he would, in turn, be interested if offered the post.

A club source told Football Insider Solskjaer is expected to be sacked if results do not improve immediately after the international break.

United travel to strugglers Watford this weekend before finishing the month with a Champions League game with Villareal and the visit of Chelsea in the league.

“Rodgers could be a replacement,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“To be fair, it’s not gone very well for Brendan Rodgers this season. Their form has been a bit hot and cold and the fans are starting to groan a little bit.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if that was something Brendan Rodgers would look to do.”

Rodgers has been in charge of Leicester since February 2019 when he left his role at Celtic to take the job.

The 48-year-old has won the FA Cup and led the Foxes to consecutive fifth-place finishes as well qualification for the Europa League in the last two seasons.

In other news, Man United have told a £100k-a-week star he is free to seal a January loan move amid a 100 per cent claim.
