Ronaldo Vieira posts Instagram message to Leeds fans ahead of clash v Newcastle

By Will Butcher

Ronaldo Vieira is raring to go ahead of Leeds’ Championship showdown against Newcastle on Friday night at St. James’ Park.

The 18-year-old midfielder is expected to start in the middle of the park after captain Liam Bridcutt missed the 3-0 win against Preston last time out.

Posting on his personal Instagram account ahead of the high-flying clash, Vieira told fans “we’re ready for it” as Garry Monk’s side look to make it two wins out of two against the Toon.

Vieira has burst onto the scene this season after making his Leeds debut in the final game of the 2015-16 season, proving to be one of Monk’s integral members in their promotion push.

Making 35 appearances in all competitions this season for the Yorkshire giants, Vieira’s best moment came in the final moments of Leeds’ 3-2 win away at Norwich as he slammed home a long-range effort past goalkeeper John Ruddy.

Vieira is likely to feature against the Toon and is likely to be tasked with keeping England international Jonjo Shelvey under control in the middle of the park.

Fans will be wary of the reverse fixture that saw Rafa Benitez’s side win 2-0 at Elland Road, but will be optimistic after Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday beat Newcastle last time out 2-1.

A win could see Leeds climb to third in the Championship table, if play-off rivals Huddersfield and Reading lose to Preston and Aston Villa respectively.
