Shearer posts three-word Twitter verdict on Mitrovic display for Newcastle v Leeds
By Matt Farr
Newcastle favourite Alan Shearer has criticised striker Aleksandar Mitrovic for his below-par performance in the draw with Leeds on Friday night.
Mitrovic was energetic in the final third, but failed to register on the scoresheet as Newcastle were held to a 1-1 draw at St. James’ Park.
When asked by a fan what he thought of the 22-year-old’s display, Shearer responded on his personal Twitter account with an emphatic three-word verdict – ‘not good enough.’

The Serbia international was handed a rare start in the absence of injured top goalscorer Dwight Gayle, earning only his ninth Championship start of the campaign.
He has scored six goals from 25 appearances in all competitions, but has failed to hit the back of the net since the win over Wolves on February 11.

Newcastle fans, on the other hand, appeared a little more appreciative of Mitrovic’s efforts against Leeds, delivering largely positive verdicts at the final whistle.
He regularly imposed his physicality on the Leeds back-line, in particular central pairing Pontus Jansson and Kyle Bartley.
Despite the frustrating draw, courtesy of Chris Wood’s last-minute equaliser, Newcastle are still firmly on course to win immediate promotion back to the Premier League.
They sit eight points clear of third-placed Huddersfield with four games to play, boasting a healthy advantage in pursuit of automatic promotion.
