Rafa Benitez is looking to get two more players in this month, but it’s likely that they will be on loan, according to a Sky journalist.
The Toon are yet to make any signings in the January transfer window as the former Liverpool and Real Madrid manager looks to maintain his side’s Championship promotion charge.
Now it looks like they could get a boost, although potentially only until the end of the season, with most loan deals being done for a season or half-season.
North East Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie revealed the news on his personal Twitter account.

With four defeats in their last nine Championship games, and after briefly being overtaken by Brighton at the top of the table this month, Benitez is now likely to enter the January transfer window in order to bolster his side’s chances of returning to the Premier League at the first attempt.
Width is currently a problem at St. James’ Park as the Toon have just two first-team options out wide in Matt Ritchie and Yoann Gouffran, with Christian Atsu representing Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Northern Echo claimed on Monday that the Magpies were interested in signing speed machine Sheyi Ojo on loan from Liverpool, who can play on both flanks.
Former Magpie Andros Townsend has also been reportedly interesting the Toon, after the Daily Mail claimed Benitez was keen to reunite himself with the England international.
Football Insider verdict:
Newcastle are desperate for a lift in their squad. Four losses in nine Championship encounters is not the form required of a side that are targeting automatic promotion. Now just one point above Chris Hughton’s Brighton, the Seagulls have a game in hand after clawing in Benitez’s side, while third placed Leeds have reduced the deficit between the top two and the play-offs to just six after a sublime run of form. Bringing in two new players could reignite a bit of enthusiasm and positivity around Tyneside, as they enter the second half of the season with the aim of securing an instant return to the top flight.
