Sky Sports: Rangers star delivers worrying response after mega-money transfer bid tabled
Rangers have turned down yet another bid for star striker Alfredo Morelos, according to Sky Sports.
The broadcaster claim on their live transfer blog (31/01 10: 24) on their website that Sky Sports sources believe that the Light Blues have turned down an offer of £8million from Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande.
The report goes on to claim that the 21-year-old is eager to talk to the Chinese Super League side as he is currently not one of the highest paid players at Ibrox, in what will be a worrying response for both Graeme Murty and the Gers’ fans.
The Columbian forward has been the subject of fevered speculation surrounding his future in recent days, with the Chinese side seemingly determined to sign the player, but so far Rangers haven’t budged.
Morelos is the top scorer in the Scottish Premiership, having scored 11 goals in the competition so far this season.
Football Insider verdict
Rangers deserve plaudits for their determination to hold on to one of their most important players, even though it does seem inevitable that the player wants to move. Morelos would earn far more money playing in China than he would playing in Scotland, which is something that the Gers have no doubt taken into consideration. An intriguing aspect of the transfer to consider is that the Chinese transfer window doesn’t close until February, which doesn’t really help the Gers when it comes to getting a replacement in for Morelos. It will be interesting to see if the Gers finally cave in and accept what is an awful lot of money.
