Thomas Christiansen has said that midfielder Ouasim Bouy has a ‘small opportunity’ at Leeds.
Bouy signed for Leeds from Juventus in the summer on a free transfer and spent the first half of the season on loan at partner side Cultural Leonesa in Spain.
He made just four appearances for the side and has now returned to Leeds where he said he wanted to stay and fight for his place in the side.
Talking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Cardiff game on Saturday, Christiansen said that he’s a “good player” but that he only has a “small opportunity” to break through to the senior squad.
As quoted by Leeds Live, Christiansen said: “I took the decision to keep him
“I spoke with him, he decided to stay, he has the opportunity, a small opportunity perhaps.
“I like very much how he trains, he’s a good player
“Perhaps in one situation he gets the opportunity.
“The most important is you have a player who wants to be here and work hard.”
Football Insider verdict:
Bouy came up the youth ranks at Ajax before making a switch to Juventus Under-19s and showed massive promise.
However, his career hasn’t taken off and he’s been passed around in various loan moves.
His stint at Cultural Leonesa was his sixth loan move and Juventus gave up on him when he signed on a free for Leeds.
However, this gives him a glimmer of opportunity to try and prove he has what it takes to make his mark at Leeds.
