Sources: Blackburn Rovers have six-figure bid for Lincoln City ace Edun accepted

Lincoln City have accepted a £500,000 Blackburn Rovers bid for Tayo Edun, Football Insider has learned.

The Championship club have stepped up their interest in the defender with the transfer window set to close on 31 August.

A Lincoln source has told Football Insider that the club have now accepted Rovers’ six-figure bid.

Football Insider revealed on 4 August both Luton Town and Peterborough United had tabled offers for Edun.

The 23-year-old is in the final year of his Lincoln contract and he could leave for free next summer.

Edun made 53 appearances across all competitions for Lincoln last term as they ended the season as defeated play-off finalists.

He scored twice and provided seven assists before the Imps were defeated by Blackpool at Wembley.

Versatile performer Edun can play at left-back, defensive midfield or on the left-side of midfield.

Blackburn Rovers have been relatively quiet this summer having signed Jan Paul van Hecke, Leighton Clarkson and Ian Poveda on loan.

They sold Adam Armstrong to Southampton for a reported £15million fee earlier this month and are now set to finally reinvest in the squad.

The Lancashire outfit have also lost Amari’i Bell to Luton Town on a free transfer this summer.

He played 19 times at left-back for Rovers last term and Edun could offer Tony Mowbray another option.

He moved to Lincoln in January 2020 and has figured for England all the way up from Under-17s to Under-20s.

The London-born ace was a member of the England Under-19s that won the U19 European Championships in 2017 and was named in the team of the tournament.

In other news, Spurs expect to sell a 28-year-old by tomorrow night as medical scheduled.
