Sources: Brentford, Burnley, Fulham and Nottingham Forest make moves to sign Papa Gueye in January
Brentford, Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Burnley are plotting moves for Marseille midfielder Pape Gueye in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The Premier League quartet have all made moves for Gueye, 24, by registering their interest in a potential deal this winter.
Marseille have taken up their year option on Gueye’s contract until 2025 and are open to offers for the all-action midfielder.

The Ligue 1 outfit have given FIFA agent Willie McKay a mandate to speak to clubs interested in Gueye in the January transfer window.
Brentford, Fulham, Forest and Burnley are all looking to strengthen their midfield in the upcoming transfer window and they have been alerted to Gueye’s potential availability.
Gueye was part of Senegal’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations-winning squad and came through the famed Le Havre Academy, which produced superstars Riyad Mahrez, Dimitri Payet and Paul Pogba.
He only returned to action this week (6 December) when he featured from the bench in Marseille’s win over Lyon after serving a four-month football ban for a contract breach that took place in 2020.
The dispute was triggered when Gueye signed a pre-contract agreement with then-Premier League side Watford in April 2020 – with the Hornets even announcing their new signing from Le Havre.
He subsequently pulled out of the move and joined Marseille in July 2020 on a four-year deal.
The defensive midfielder is now seeking to kick-start his career again after the ban.

Gueye spent the second half of last season on loan at La Liga outfit Sevilla, scoring one goal and providing three assists in 16 appearances.
He boasts a wealth of experience having made 101 appearances for Marseille while having experience in the French and Spanish top flight as well as the Champions League.
