Ipswich Town have approached Colchester over a move for defender Kane Vincent-Young, Football Insider understands.
Vincent-Young’s future was the subject of speculation earlier in the transfer window with the likes of Luton Town and Charlton both credited with an interest in the full-back.
However, now the Championship window is closed neither club can make a move for Vincent-Young clearing the path for Ipswich to make a bid for the defender as the transfer window is still open for League One and League Two clubs.
Ipswich boss Paul Lambert is keen to strengthen his side’s defensive options before the transfer window closes on September 2nd and likes Vincent-Young’s versatility in that he can play at right-back and left-back.
Now an Ipswich source has told Football Insider that the club have made an approach to Colchester and hope to sign him before their summer window closes.
Former Tottenham youngster Vincent-Young, 23, joined Colchester in 2014 and progressed from the club’s academy into the first-team, making over 100 appearances for the U’s.
In other Ipswich Town news, the club has agreed to sign this defender with the deal all but done.
