Sources: Liverpool make move to sign Aurelien Tchouameni after Monaco reveal
Liverpool have registered their interest in signing Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni this summer, Football Insider understands.
The Champions League finalists are in the market for a new midfielder as they seek a long-term replacement for Jordan Henderson and James Milner.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Tchouameni is one of Liverpool’s top targets after learning Monaco are ready to cash in on him this summer.
The 22-year-old is regarded as one of the best young talents in the world after catching the eye for Monaco as well as the France national team over the last 18 months.
He is under contract at Monaco until 2024 but the French club are preparing to sell him although it will take a fee of over £50million to seal a deal.
This site revealed last month (14 April) that Man City are also pushing hard for the in-demand central midfielder.
Jurgen Klopp is also a huge admirer of Declan Rice but West Ham’s £100m-plus price tag is out of Liverpool’s range.
Despite his age, Tchouameni is hugely experienced, making 131 senior appearances for Bordeaux and Monaco.
93 of those have come in Ligue 1, the league in which the midfielder won the young player of the year award in 2020-21.
He also has eight France caps and one international goal as well as a UEFA Nationals League trophy to his name.

Milner, 36, is out of contract at the end of this season but is still an important player for Klopp, making 36 appearances in all competitions this season.
Henderson, 31, also remains an important player but has been dropped from the starting XI for recent games against Everton and Villarreal.
In other news, a finance guru has claimed Liverpool have banked £68m and could soon land a £4m bonus after a ‘huge’ development.
