Sources: Newcastle could sign ‘huge’ striker for well below his £87m release clause
Newcastle are happy with their current selection of strikers this season but will also make further transfer plans in the upcoming transfer windows to strengthen their squad.
Newcastle stole Nick Woltemade away from the pursuing Bayern Munich and the forward has been a revelation at St James’ Park.
The 23-year-old has notched seven goals in 14 matches in all competitions with the Magpies pleased to have moved on from the Alexander Isak fiasco over the summer.
Moreover, with Yoane Wissa still working his way back from injury ahead of AFCON, the Toon are soon to be in a very strong position up top.
Yet, there are no guarantees the Congolese will have a smooth recovery, which could force Eddie Howe into the transfer market to sign another striker.

Newcastle could reignite interest in Samu Aghehowa in the near future
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the Toon are continuing to monitor the situation of the Porto frontman.
Sources told Football Insider over the summer that Newcastle submitted a formal offer for Samu Aghehowa as they urgently searched for their Isak successor on Tyneside.
A deal never materialised for the Spaniard and, whilst a deal looks unlikely in January, the Magpies will continue watching him from afar in preparation for a bid in future transfer windows.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast over Howe’s ideal figure to buy the 21-year-old, I explained: “I don’t see them going out and signing Aghehowa in January.
“He’s under contract at Porto until 2029 and there is a release clause of around £87million in that contract.
“Although, any club that’s interested in Aghehowa will be hoping to probably sign him for less than that release clause as well.”
Newcastle face setback in Elliot Anderson reunion as Liverpool join race
Turning their attention away from their forward line, Howe has been eager to bring his former academy graduate back to the club following a sensational spell at Nottingham Forest.

Sources told Football Insider that Newcastle are looking to accelerate a deal to re-sign Elliot Anderson, yet their hopes may be squashed.
Football Insider exclusively revealed that both Liverpool and Man United are chasing after Anderson’s signature, in what would be a major blow for the Toon.
With the financial might of two of the biggest clubs in England, the Magpies may have to settle for second place.
