Sources: Nottingham Forest to submit £1.8m Derry Scherhant bid

Nottingham Forest are set to bid £1.8million for Hertha Berlin forward Derry Scherhant, sources have told Football Insider.

Forest have been tracking Scherhant for the last 12 months following his man-of-the-match performance against them in pre-season last summer.

Scherhant, 20, scored in that pre-season friendly and his performance left a huge impression on the Forest coaching staff.

Forest are ready to offer £1.8m for Scherhant and believe Hertha’s relegation from the Bundesliga last season gives them the ideal opportunity to get a deal agreed.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on Monday ( 10 July) that Forest could add six signings this summer.

This comes after on Monday (10 July), Football Insider revealed that Jonjo Shelvey, Emmanuel Dennis and Remo Freuler could depart the City Ground this summer.

Scherhant has made 10 Bundesliga appearances so far in his career, eight as a sub and only two starts.

The last four months of the 2022/23 Bundesliga season saw the striker more involved, as he was named in the matchday squad 13 times.

He played 279 minutes in total of first team football in Germany last season, scoring one goal in the meantime.

The striker also played 12 times for the Hertha Berlin second team in the last campaign and he managed to score scored eight goals,

For the Hertha Berlin second team, Scherhant had 34 direct goal involvements where he scored 24 goals and provided 10 assists in only 39 starts and seven sub appearances.
