PL rivals poised for dramatic last-minute swoop on Tottenham right-sided flyer – report
Southampton are plotting a dramatic last-minute swoop for Tottenham right-back Kyle Walker-Peters, according to a report.
The Sun claim Southampton are looking for cover for Cedric Soares and want to take the Tottenham youngster on loan for the rest of the season.
Walker-Peters, 20, has made two Premier League appearances this season but is behind both Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier under Mauricio Pochettino.
Pochettino rates Walker-Peters highly and will consider whether a loan move would be the best thing for his development.
Football Insider verdict:
Walker-Peters enjoyed a sensational start to the season, playing 90 minutes in Tottenham’s opening day 2-0 win against Newcastle and putting in a man-of-the-match performance. However, he is third choice for the right-back position and it might serve him well to put in a shift for Southampton in the second half of the season. However, Pochettino would want some guarantee that he would get some game time – there wouldn’t be much point Walker-Peters making a loan move just to sit on another bench.
