Stan Collymore has hit back at a Newcastle fan who told Aston Villa to enjoy the Championship for “another couple of seasons at least”.
Boyhood Villa fan and former player, Collymore responded by saying at least he has “memories” of his team being champions of England and Europe.
Newcastle recently earned promotion back to the Premier League as they were crowned champions of the second tier on the last day of the season.
They suffered relegation with Villa last term, with the Midlands outfit struggling to bounce straight back up during this campaign.
Here was Collymore’s exchange with a Newcastle supporter who was slating the club:
“Enjoy the Championship for another couple of season at least,” the Newcastle fan told Collymore as posted on his personal Twitter account.
“At least I’ll have memories of being Champions of England, Europe and only not seeing us win one major trophy in my lifetime,” Collymore responded.
At least I'll have memories of being Champions of England, Europe and only not seeing us win one major trophy in my lifetime.

Prior to the Magpies being crowned champions, they had already earned promotion along with Brighton.
However, going into the final match of the Championship campaign, both were vying for the title, with the Seagulls in the driving seat.
But, they conceded a late draw at Villa Park when Jack Grealish netted in the last minute to hand Rafa Benitez’ side the title.
The Spaniard will now prepare for a tough Premier League campaign as they hope to make their mark on the league upon their return.
By contrast, Villa are favourites to earn promotion next season as Steve Bruce boasts the most expensive Championship squad.
They finished 18 points behind sixth-placed Fulham and a mammoth 32 points behind Newcastle.
