Stan Collymore predicts Liverpool clash against Southampton
By Harvey Byrne
Stan Collymore had predicted Liverpool to beat Southampton 2-0 at St Mary’s Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The Reds are preparing to travel to the south coast for the League Cup semi-final first leg.
It will be the second time the two sides have faced each other this campaign at St Mary’s with the Merseyside giants being held to a 0-0 draw in November.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were unable to penetrate an impressive Southampton defensive unit in the league.
However, former Liverpool striker Collymore believes his old side will have more luck in the cup.

Southampton will be without key defender and captain Jose Fonte for the encounter after the Portugal international handed in a transfer request to the south east side.
This means Liverpool are likely to face a back line consisting of centre-back duo Virgil van Dijk and Maya Yoshida.
However, the Reds will also be without star forward Sadio Mane for the cup tie due to the AFCON, while Philippe Coutinho is fit enough to be a part of the squad, but is unlikely to start following an ankle injury.
Liverpool have a good recent record against Southampton with four victories, two draws and one defeat in their last seven encounters.
They will now be keen to continue that good form and take a good result into the second leg at Anfield later in the month.
