Stefan Borson: Rangers fans are ‘up in arms’ after Ibrox manager twist
Rangers are looking to move forward under Danny Rohl after his appointment has been confirmed at Ibrox.
Rohl was eventually appointed as the new Rangers manager on 20 October after a drawn-out process, which saw the likes of Steven Gerrard and Kevin Muscat turn down the opportunity to join the club.
Football Insider revealed on 20 October Rangers’ recruitment model has been an issue for managers, who were keen for more influence over their transfer business.
That has upped the stakes for sporting director Kevin Thelwell after he arrived at Ibrox at the same time as former manager Russell Martin.
Rangers’ 3-1 win over Kilmarnock on Sunday (26 October) ensures Rohl has already matched the one victory Martin picked up in the Scottish Premiership before his sacking.

Rangers should have anticipated manager issue
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Rangers’ recruitment of a new manager indicates there is an “issue” behind the scenes at Ibrox.
Rohl has taken charge of the club after previously spending two years at Sheffield Wednesday.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Rangers’ managerial search, Borson said: “It’s hard to say from the outside, I did see that there was a situation in the airport with the chief executive.
“If you have a situation like that where you fail to sign multiple managers, then it is indicative that there’s some kind of issue.
“I mean, we did think that maybe the Gerrard situation was about Gerrard, but if that wasn’t the case, and then the Muscat situation was always pretty obvious that he wasn’t going to leave three games before the end of a season.
“I mean, that would have been a remarkable decision from him. So, they should have been able to foresee some of these situations, you would think.”

Former Aberdeen CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider Rangers should already be looking for Rohl’s successor to ensure they are better prepared in the future.
Rangers prediction made after Danny Rohl appointment
Rangers have moved up to fifth in the Scottish Premiership table and they are now just five points behind Celtic in second place.
Borson said: “Look, it’s the nature of the beast. If you have such poor results and Rangers are fifth at the moment in the Scottish Premiership, of course the fans are going to be up in arms.
“There’s no way that that situation should persist with the budget that Rangers have got versus everybody else in the Scottish Premiership, and even the budget that they’ve got versus everybody else in the Europa League.

“But a lot of teams should be doing better. Of course, clearly it’s gone wrong. I suspect that they will get it together relatively quickly. Unfortunately, probably not this season, but it does signify issues.”
Hearts have opened up an eight-point gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership following their 3-1 victory over Celtic on Sunday.
