Rangers star Ryan Jack insists his side “have to stick together” and support misfiring striker Alfredo Morelos through his goal drought.
The Colombian drew a blank in the weekend defeat at the hands of Hamilton as he failed to hit the net for the eighth game in a row.
The 21-year-old Ibrox mainstay scored eight times in his first nine games following his £1million summer move from HJK Helsinki but has been firing blanks since the Scottish Premiership draw with Partick Thistle in September.
Jack also admitted that a few of the Rangers players had spoken to Ross McCrorie after the 19-year-old’s mistake against Accies gifted David Templeton the opening goal as Hamilton recorded their first league win at Ibrox since 1926.
“Alfredo is a good lad and we’re all here for each other. It’s not just Alfredo, we’ve had a disappointing result here and we all just have to stick together as a team,” Jack said, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“A few of us have spoken to Ross and told him that everyone makes mistakes, that’s football and it’s part of the game.
“I told him that I’m the first one to hold my hands up, I’ve made mistakes in my career and it’s how you react and how you respond that counts.”
McCrorie’s error on Saturday was the first major mistake he’s made since coming into the first-team two months ago as the Scotland Under-21 defender has impressed since making his debut against Partick.
The Gers will have the chance to get the weekend’s result out of their system on Friday night when they travel to Dens Park to face Dundee in the Scottish Premiership.
With second-place Aberdeen and third-place Hibs both losing over the weekend, the Ibrox giants missed a fantastic opportunity to leapfrog both sides and jump into second-place in the Scottish Premiership.
