'Stinker' - BBC pundit slams Rangers first teamer despite win against Falkirk

BBC Sportsound pundit Tam McManus slammed Alfredo Morelos for his performance in Rangers’ 4-1 win against Falkirk at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon.

The Light Blues breezed into the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup by seeing off the Scottish Championship side courtesy of a Jason Cummings hat-trick and an own goal by Aaron Muirhead.

However McManus was less than pleased with first teamer Morelos, who squandered multiple chances in front of goal.

“Morelos has had a stinker today I’m afraid,” he said on his personal Twitter account.

Morelos, 21, has been a mainstay in the Rangers first team this season and does not usually have difficulty in finding the back of the net.

The Colombian, who was signed from HJK Helsinki by Pedro Caixinha last summer for £1million, has made 34 appearances in all competitions and scored 17 goals for the Light Blues.

Rangers fans have been urging Graeme Murty to start both Cummings and Morelos up front together, and against Falkirk he did just that. It seemed to have paid of for Cummings, who may prefer to play in a strike partnership, but it did not work out for Morelos one bit. The Colombian should have definitely got at least two goals when he was fed through to have a one-on-one against Falkirk goalkeeper Robbie Thomson. The shot-stopper was in good form against him but a player of Morelos’ quality should have tucked a couple away. He has a big test against Celtic next week and his performance in the Old Firm could determine what price tag is slapped on him in the summer.

In other Rangers news, this Premier League playmaker wanted a future at Ibrox in 2011 and this summer is his chance to realise that dream.
