Liverpool reportedly sent scouts to Portugal on Saturday to watch Benfica host Porto.
Portuguese news outlet A Bola claimed that the Reds were one of several clubs to dispatch their recruitment experts to the Estadio da Luz but didn’t reveal which specific players they could have been watching.
The game finished 1-1, with Benfica keeping a hold of their marginal one-point lead at the top of the Primeira Liga.
Jonas opened the scoring when he converted a penalty before Maxi Pereira equalised for Porto just after the break.
Here, Football Insider takes a look at three players from ‘O Classico’ that Liverpool should sign.

The 35-year-old was the stand-out performer on Saturday when he made save-after-save to keep his side within a shot of winning the league title this season. Although he is classed as a veteran of the game, the goalkeeper appears to be going from strength-to-strength with the Portuguese club. Casillas has won all there is to win in both club and international football but should be given a shot in the Premier League by Jurgen Klopp who has to find himself a new goalkeeper, after the poor showings from Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius this season. Casillas is a seasoned professional who could do a lot to help the Reds defence.
The 22-year-old has been constantly linked with a move to bitter rivals Manchester Untied and signing him would be a great way of sparking a power shift in the North West. Lindelof is highly-rated for a good reason – he’s a powerhouse of a defender standing at 6’2” tall and has become an ever-present in the Benfica team during the last two seasons. Liverpool need a centre-back in the summer and have been tipped to sign the likes of Michael Keane and Kostas Manolas, but a move for Lindelof would not only make a massive improvement to their back line, but also rub salt into the wounds of United.
Pereira has already been linked with a move to Anfield after A Bola had previously claimed in a separate report that Klopp is looking at the 25-year-old. He is a brute force of a midfielder who is exactly the type of player that Liverpool need. The Reds don’t have a lot of problems in attack but they definitely need a player that can come into the midfield that can help out the defence. The 18-time Portuguese international has been a star turn in the Porto team this season and Klopp would be a fool to not try and sign him in the summer.
In other Liverpool news, the club are reportedly plotting a swoop for this Colombian striker.
