Three Rangers players breathing huge sighs of relief after McInnes snub

Rangers are still looking for a new manager after long-time favourite for the job Derek McInnes opted to remain at Aberdeen.

After the Gers were denied the opportunity to talk to McInnes, the Aberdeen boss decided not to move to Ibrox after talks with Aberdeen chairman Stewart Milne.

Graeme Murty, who has been interim boss at Ibrox since the sacking of Perdo Caixinha in October, is set to continue in the post until the end of the year at least after helping guide the Glasgow side up to second in the Premiership table.

The handling of the McInnes saga has had an interesting effect on the Rangers side, as they defeated Aberdeen twice under Murty’s management to overtake them into second place in the Scottish Premiership, after losing their two previous league matches to Hamilton and Dundee.

How the players react now remains to be seen, but some will be pleased that McInnes isn’t taking over.
