Rangers gave themselves the ideal preparation for Saturday’s Old Firm clash with a 2-0 win over Motherwell at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday night.

Second-half strikes from Danny Wilson and Alfredo Morelos secured the three points on a bitterly cold December night in Glasgow as Graeme Murty’s side recorded their first win in three games.

A potentially serious injury to midfielder Ryan Jack overshadowed the win and leaves the midfielder a major doubt for Saturday’s trip to Celtic Park.

Murty rang the changes after his side lost 2-1 at Kilmarnock over the weekend and the former Scotland international will have been delighted with the way his changes paid off.

Stephen Robinson’s side never really threatened Rangers and if it wasn’t for Well keeper Trevor Carson’s heroics then the scoreline could well have been much greater.
