Tony Xia has described Ashley Westwood as a “nice man” after Burnley completed a £5million move to sign him from Aston Villa.
Westwood, 26, decided to join Burnley after Villa signed three central midfielders in Henri Lansbury, Conor Hourihane and Birkir Bjarnason this month.
Villa owner Xia sent a message to Westwood on his personal Twitter account, wishing him “good luck” for the future after the midfielder completed a move to Turf Moor.
Good luck to @ARWesty15 for the future. Nice man with good manner. https://t.co/mWFYsYbtN5

Westwood has signed a contract with Sean Dyche’s side that will keep him in Lancashire until the summer of 2020.
Since his move from League Two side Crewe back in 2012, Westwood made a total of 161 league and cup appearances in all competitions, scoring a measly five goals from holding midfield.
However, Westwood has been sold this month after struggling to replicate the form that saw him star in the middle of the park for the Midlands giants during their Premier League days.
Westwood joins Aaron Tshibola in leaving Villa Park this month, with the former Reading ace joining Nottingham Forest on loan following Steve Bruce’s midfield signings.
The Nantwich-born star, who wore the number 15 shirt during his time in claret and blue, will now slot in to Burnley’s midfield to replace Dean Marney after the veteran midfielder suffered a cruciate ligament injury.
