Tottenham ‘already’ working on permanent Bale deal as masterplan revealed – Robinson
Tottenham are “already” working on the blockbuster summer signing of Gareth Bale, according to Paul Robinson.
The former White Hart lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, is adamant the 31-year-old would like to extend his stay in north London as he “looks very happy”.
Bale scored twice in a 4-1 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday – he has contributed six goals and three assists in his last six games across all competitions.
Football Insider understands that Jose Mourinho has mapped out a plan to start the forward in “virtually every game” between now and the end of the season.
‘The Special One’ is convinced that Bale is now fully fit, and capable of handling the demands of regular intense football.
When asked if a permanent move was on the cards in light of recent developments, Robinson told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs:
“I think it is something they will already be looking at it, without a doubt.
“Financially, Champions League qualification would make the deal a lot easier but regardless I think the club will look at it.
“Bale looks very happy at Spurs and he looks like he is playing among friends. He looks like he is back home.
“If Spurs continue on this upwards curve then I do not know why he would want to go and play anywhere else.”
Bale joined Spurs on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid in September.
He is set to return to the Bernabeu this summer, where he is under contract until June 2022.
In other news, Paul Robinson has tipped Tottenham to sign another centre-back this summer amid an Eric Dier ‘crisis’.
