Tottenham expert can’t believe ‘weird’ Lucas Moura update – ‘that won’t have gone down well…’
Lucas Moura’s recent political comments will not have gone down well with Tottenham.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Moura, 30, spoke out about political ideologies such as communism in an interview before backing up his views in a tweet on 10 September.
This comes after Football Insider revealed (4 September) that the Brazil international is keen to run down his Tottenham contract after seeing deadline day bids from Leicester and Newcastle rejected.
Wenham insists Moura’s actions won’t have been well received by Spurs.
“It’s funny, he has taken quite a weird, political, public stance,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I’m sure that won’t have gone down well with Tottenham. Clubs don’t generally like their players tweeting out on highly divisive issues.
“There is talk about his exit, there has been for a few weeks now. His injury doesn’t help that because he hasn’t been on the bench in the last few games.
“For me, I would like him to stay. He has done a lot of great things for Tottenham. There are a load of good things even when you take away the hattrick against Ajax.
“I would welcome him to be part of the squad and I hope he stays. He can play multiple positions and because of that he can be an incredibly useful player.“

Moura is out of contract at the end of the season and can discuss a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from 1 January.
He has made two total appearances for Spurs this season.
