'Praise the lord' - Tottenham fans react after defender agrees new terms

By Danny Wright

Tottenham have confirmed that defender Anton Walkes has penned a new two-year contract with the club – and the majority of fans on Twitter are delighted with the news.

Spurs announced on their official Twitter account on Wednesday evening that Walkes, 20, had agreed terms to a new deal in North London with him being in stunning form while on loan in the MLS with Atlanta United.

He has been in top form in the US in the 2017 season, making the right-back slot his own after a slow start to life during his temporary stay.

Since June, he has become an established member of the first-team making 18 appearances this term for Atlanta, scoring two goals in the process in wins against San Jose Earthquakes and New England Revolution.

Fans have now taken to Twitter to react to the news, with most of them delighted that the young centre-back has been handed a chance to potentially shine in North London in the future.

In other Tottenham news, Arsenal icon Paul Merson has made a massive claim about this Spurs player.
