'He can say what he likes' – Tottenham fans on collision course with Levy after latest club news
Daniel Levy has confirmed that the new Tottenham stadium would not be called White Hart Lane but fans have taken to Twitter to disagree with him.
As quoted in the minutes of a meeting between the board and the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust, available on the THST website (Point 3.19), the club said that talks were progressing over the naming rights.
He also confirmed that until a deal was struck the stadium would simply be called the “Tottenham Hotspur Stadium”.
The stadium is due to be completed in time for next season, although Tottenham have asked if they can play their first few games away, in acknowledgement that the stadium might not be completed in time for the start of the campaign.
Tottenham took to twitter and they all had the same message for Levy after hearing the news.
Basically, Spurs fans are saying, it doesn’t matter what you call it, we will always call it White Hart Lane.
Here are the best reactions to news of the stadium name:
I hear Daniel Levy is being patient about finding the right partner for the naming rights of the new stadium. He says until that's done, it'll be TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR STADIUM. He can say what he likes, but to the fans it will always be WHITE HART LANE. #Spurs #COYS #THFC

Everyone will just call it WHL anyway, so whatever.

Just keep it as White Hart Lane I’m pretty sure 99% of the fans will still refer to it as that anyway as it is still in the same location

Always be WHL to me no matter what sponsor buys the naming rights

It’s fine, it’s only ever going to be WHL anyway, it could of been a lot worse.
