Winner named in race for attacker ripping up top-flight after huge Tottenham bid – report

Arsenal are poised to beat Tottenham in the race for Brazilian winger Malcom, according to a report.
The Independent reports that the Bordeaux attacker has been the subject of bids from both north London clubs in the January window.
However, Tottenham were only willing to bid £31million for the player, while Bordeaux want £44.5m.
Arsenal have met them in the middle with a bid of £40m for a player they see as an ideal replacement for wantaway Alexis Sanchez.
The Independent also claim that his stunning form in Ligue 1 has led to the price being inflated after Bordeaux were willing to let him go for just £16m in the summer.
No one wanted him then but his seven goals and five assists in 19 league games has seen his price go through the roof.
Football Insider verdict:
Tottenham fans won’t be surprised to hear that they’re missing out on a player they wanted because they’re not prepared to spend enough to land him. Malcom was a lot cheaper in the summer but anytime Arsenal get involved with a player his value seems to skyrocket. Malcom has been ripping up Ligue 1 this season and he could prove to be a very good buy for Arsenal, who are in desperate need of new attacking blood. he’s only 20 years old and already on the fringes on the senior Brazil squad.
In other Tottenham transfer news, Spurs are favourites to seal a swoop for this goalscoring midfielder in the form of his life.
