Barring some sort of divine intervention, it appears as though Danny Rose’s time at Tottenham will be coming to an end this summer.
The left back has been the centre of much discussion over the past season, primarily stemming from the brash interview he delivered at the beginning of the campaign where he outlined his plans to leave the club at some point in the near future, pointing to the wages he could receive elsewhere as a reason to depart.
With just 14 appearances under his belt after recovering from injury, he has found himself second in line to Ben Davies, and with big-money price tags being bandied about for his capture, it seems as though Daniel Levy will cash in while he still can.
However, while his exit will provide the club with a healthy cash injection, it does leave Mauricio Pochettino with a distinct lack of options at left back, the Welsh defender the only natural senior option at his disposal other than Rose.
As such a summer swoop may well be on the cards, and the Northern Echo have claimed that they have taken a strong interest in Chelsea speedster Kenedy, who is currently on loan at Newcastle United.
A versatile wide man who can play either as a winger or a wing back, the 22-year-old has been in dazzling form with the Magpies with two goals and two assists since joining in January, and it is said that he is ready to quit Chelsea despite having picked up the Premier League title with them last season.
Spurs certainly offer a more tempting location than Newcastle, with European football and aspirations of silverware, and considering his versatility and talents, not to mention his young age, he could well be the perfect signing for Mauricio Pochettino to replace Rose.
In other Tottenham news, Spurs will open talks over offloading this first-team star if they receive a ‘Coutinho-sized fee’.
