Tottenham are weighing up a bid for talented Fulham youngster Ryan Sessegnon, according to a report.
Sky Sports reported on their Transfer Centre (11.17am), that their sources have told them Spurs are considering making an offer.
Fulham are keen on keeping the player but Sky have also reported that they would accept an offer that “was too good to refuse”.
This comes on the back of an earlier report in the Times that said Tottenham had an initial offer of £25million rejected by the Championship club.
It was said that Fulham were looking for £50million for the player.
Sky Sports has also said that Man United have “significant interest” in the player and would loan him straight back to the Championship club if they were successful.
Sessegnon is only 17 years old but has already established himself as a first-team star at Fulham, making 34 appearances and scoring seven goals.
Football Insider verdict:
Sessegnon would be a fantastic buy for either Tottenham or Man United but £50million is a crazy price for a 17-year-old defender. That would make him the second most expensive defender ever after Benjamin Mendy’s move to Manchester City this summer. Saying that, Fulham don’t really want to sell so they’re within their rights to name a price that might seem fantastical. Given the crazy transfer prices this year though, it could actually be a bargain if he goes on to fulfil the potential he’s shown to date. Do Tottenham need a left-back is perhaps a more pertinent question? Interestingly, this might have Danny Rose shifting around uncomfortably after he made noises about wanting more money earlier this summer. With Ben Davies currently playing brilliantly as his stand-in, one would surely have to go if Sessegnon came in. Is he ready for the Premier League though?
