Tottenham stars may follow former favourite out after shock criticism from mainstay

On the surface, everything looks pretty rosy at Tottenham.
While they would have liked to have been challenging for the title yet again, Manchester City have been far too dominant to give anyone a hope, and another top four finish would be considered a success in the white half of north London.
The team have progressed in Europe too, their defeat and exit at the hands of Juventus the only black mark on an otherwise stunning campaign.
With a brand new stadium on its way next season, and the makings of a young but competitive side at the hands of Mauricio Pochettino, the future certainly looks bright.
However, under the surface, things might not be as positive as they seem.

Contract negotiations for Toby Alderweireld, one of the club’s top stars, seem to have hit a brick wall, and it looks as though he could be the second big-money exit in as many summers, following on from fan favourite Kyle Walker’s departure for Manchester City last year.
However, could yet more of the club’s senior stars be eyeing up a move away from the club, even making the same path up north to the Etihad Stadium?
Well, Jan Vertonghen’s shock criticisms of Pochettino’s training techniques may well be filling fans with dread.
The Belgian defender has directly compared the manner in which the Argentine boss drills his players day in, day out, to the approach held by City boss Pep Guardiola, where players are said to be handed long breaks off throughout the season.
While money could be a big factor determining whether stars stay or leave Spurs, as was the case with Walker last summer, the lifestyle factor could well have a say in keeping the best players remain.
If Vertonghen’s feelings of being overworked by Pochettino are mirrored by his team mates, then it could be a real concern for the Lilywhites, and there may well be eyes being cast away from the club by the current squad.
