Tottenham star Dominic Solanke reacts to Kylian Mbappe’s Real Madrid message

Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke has reacted to a message shared by Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe.

The France international helped Madrid to a dramatic 3-2 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Club World Cup quarter-finals on Saturday, 5 July, by scoring an acrobatic goal.

Largely thanks to Mbappe’s impressive exploits against the Bundesliga giants, Xabi Alonso’s men are now set for a mouthwatering semi-final clash with Champions League winners PSG on Wednesday, 9 July.

The winner of the last-four clash will take on either Brazilian side Fluminense or Chelsea in the Club World Cup final on Sunday, 13 July.

Thanks to suffering from illness, Mbappe did not feature in the Club World Cup for Alonso’s side until their last 16 win over Juventus.

Meanwhile, the 26-year-old celebrated Madrid’s victory over Dortmund via Instagram on Sunday, 6 July, as he wrote: “Good way to show that I feel better now.

“Another important win for the team in an amazing atmosphere here in NYC.

“See you in the semi-finals. Hala Madrid!”

Mbappe set for vital role in Club World Cup semi-finals

Football Insider verdict

Real Madrid will have viewed themselves as one of the favourites to win the Club World Cup at the start of the competition, but were soon held to a 1-1 draw by Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal in their opening game on 18 June.

But since then, Alonso’s men have won four consecutive games, and did not require extra time to beat either Serie A giants Juventus or Bundesliga heavyweights Borussia Dortmund in the knockout stages.

However, Champions League winners PSG are set to pose an even tougher challenge to Madrid in the semi-finals on Wednesday, after proving themselves as the best team in Europe next term.

If the La Liga giants are to get the better of the French side in their crunch clash, they will need former PSG man Mbappe to perform at his very best.

The former Monaco man notched 43 goals in 58 appearances across all competitions last season and should have what it takes to score against Luis Enrique’s impressive outfit.
