Victor Lindelof shares injury update after devastating Man United blow

Man United defender Victor Lindelof took to social media to let the fans know he’s “back” from his most recent setback.

The 30-year-old has been out of action since Man United’s 4-3 League Cup defeat to Tottenham earlier in the season, subsequently missing their last 12 games across all competitions.

Lindelof has been largely criticised throughout his Man United career, but many fans appear excited to see the centre-back make his return under new manager Ruben Amorim.

The news of Lindelof’s return comes after Lisandro Martinez was ruled out for the rest of this season and a large chunk of the next after tearing his ACL in the 2-0 Premier League defeat to Crystal Palace.

Several of his teammates, including Amad Diallo and Mason Mount, took to social media to wish him a speedy recovery, and they wore tracksuit tops during the warm-up sending a similar message ahead of the game with Leicester.

Martinez has since undergone surgery in London and will return to Manchester to undergo rehabilitation on his torn anterior cruciate ligament.

The World Cup winner had been a key player for United before his injury, starting 31 of his 32 games across all competitions, scoring two goals, and providing two assists in his 2711 minutes of action.

Lindelof hasn’t had many chances to impress so far this season, starting just four of his nine games across all competitions, and failing to provide a goal contribution in his 339 minutes on the field.

The Sweden International may be thrown in at the deep end under Amorim, who is seemingly sticking with his 3-4-3 formation at the 20-time champions.

Lindelof took to Instagram to share an update with the fans after Martinez’s season-ending injury, simply captioning the post: “Back.”

United continue to struggle under Amorim, sitting in 13th with eight wins, five draws, 11 defeats, and 29 points from their 24 games.

Amoim’s side will take on fellow ‘big six’ strugglers Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday (February 16).
