Victor Orta finally makes spot on Leeds transfer decision after forward wraps up top-flight move
Leeds United director of football Victor Orta has been widely criticised ever since he was hired to take charge of the transfers at Elland Road by Andrea Radrizzani last May.
Many fans believe that the Spaniard’s poor intake played a major part in Thomas Christiansen being sacked by the board earlier this month.
One of the main reasons why Orta has had so much stick is that he has consistently poured time and resources into improving the Under-23s or appeasing the Aspire Academy group rather than bolstering the first-team.
But finally, it become clear that the transfer chief made a spot on decision earlier this month when it was decided that Eoghan Stokes’ contract would be terminated.
Stokes, 21, was very highly-rated by those who saw him play for the Under-23s and his solo first-team appearance for Leeds saw him play a role in a 5-1 hammering of Newport County in the EFL Cup last year.
However on Thursday, the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international wrapped up a move to Irish Premier Division club Bohemian.
The Dublin club confirmed on their official Twitter account that the centre-forward had been snapped up from Leeds – and the quality of the club he has signed for shows that the 21-year-old was simply nowhere near good enough to play for the Whites in the future.

Not many players develop at English clubs, move to the Irish top-flight and then return to the same level in the Football League.
The fact that Stokes did not seem to be wanted by a League Two or even a National League club proves that he is far away from ever becoming a decent player at Elland Road.
Terminating the Irish forward’s deal may have saved pennies, but it was a good move nonetheless by Orta.
