West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini believes that Ross Barkley is a “very good player” ahead of his side’s clash against Everton.
The Hammers host Everton on Saturday in the Premier League and will be wary of Ronald Koeman’s in-form side.
The Toffees are seventh in the Premier League table and have won four of their last six matches.
Barkley has played an important role in their recent success, supplying two assists in his past two games.
Lanzini has raved about the qualities of the 23-year-old and believes the pressure on him is a good thing.
“They also have Ross Barkley, who is a very good player,” Lanzini said, as quoted by the club’s official website. “I don’t think he is thinking about the pressure people are putting on him, because there was a lot of pressure on him last week and he played really well against Hull City.
“He has a good touch, good finishing and good recovery, so he is a very good player. I don’t think the pressure is a bad thing for him.”
Barkley is one of Everton’s most criticised players as the fans feel that he has the potential to be an elite Premier League star.
The academy graduate is enjoying one of his best seasons to date and has made 34 appearances so far, scoring five goals and supplying nine assists.
He has not featured for England’s national side since May 2016 and many people believe he has underachieved.
Barkley has been in the spotlight recently after being punched in a Liverpool bar last week, in which his solicitor described as an “unprovoked attack”.
The attacking midfielder has had lots of pressure to deal with at Goodison Park, but he responded with a strong performance int he 3-1 win over Burnley.
