'What a signing that would be' - Exclusive: Bent in awe of 'Brilliant' Leeds transfer plan
Darren Bent insists that Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale would be a “brilliant” signing for Leeds United this summer.
In an exclusive interview with Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former England striker believes having an “authoritative” keeper between the sticks is vital in the Premier League.
As revealed exclusively by Football Insider, the Championship table-toppers have set their sights on the Cherries’ 21-year-old if they finally secure promotion back to the top flight.
Bent insists that Ramsdale is the sort of shot-stopper needed to be a success among England’s elite, suggesting he could replace Marcelo Bielsa’s current first-choice keeper Kiko Casilla.
Bent told Football Insider: “He has been brilliant for Bournemouth and they could be swapping places – Bournemouth could be on their way down and Leeds on their way up.
“Leeds are still a massive club and what a signing that would be. You need a good goalkeeper, you need someone who’s authoritative and will take charge of the situation.

“You need someone who will pull people around, boss people about and make good saves ultimately. Definitely, one you’d have to say is a good signing.”
Ramsdale, an England under-21 international, has missed just one Premier League game for Eddie Howe’s side this season in what is his first campaign in the top flight.
He was sent on loan to AFC Wimbledon for the second half of the 2018/19 campaign, playing 23 times for the League One outfit.
