Whelan claims 'it would have to be big money' to lure Gerrard from Rangers to Everton
Noel Whelan claims it will take ‘”big money” to lure Steven Gerrard away from Rangers this summer.
The former Aberdeen striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said he would be shocked to see the Englishman leave Ibrox this year.
On 1st June, The Athletic claimed Gerrard is on Everton’s shortlist to replace Carlo Ancelotti.
On 29th May, the same outlet reported Wolves have also looked at the Rangers boss after Nuno Espirito Santo’s left the club at the end of the season.
Whelan claims “big money” would take Gerrard away from Ibrox even if he is looking forward to the next step of his Gers career.
“He’s done an incredible job in the short time he’s been there,” Whelan told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Especially in that first season, they were very difficult circumstances. That’s what these clubs are facing now.
“To compete with Celtic then absolutely romp the league last season is impressive for anyone.
“You’ve seen the quick turnaround Gerrard has brought to the club. He is winning, winning winning, he can never get enough of it.
“Even now he’s looking to rebuild rangers, I can’t see him leaving this season. He has another challenge on his hands to retain the league and be competitive in the Champions League.
“It would have to be big money to take him away from Rangers right now.”
Gerrard joined the Light Blues in the summer of 2018.
He led Rangers to the Premiership title for the first time in 10 years last season as he oversaw an unbeaten league campaign.
