Whelan predicts 'really exciting' Rangers signings after 'massive' board update
Noel Whelan claims Rangers can build a dynasty in Scottish football with a few star signings this summer.
The former Leeds and Aberdeen hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, was reacting to Steven Gerrard’s recent claims.
The Gers boss told BBC Sport that he going to be fully “backed” by the Rangers board this summer after some “really” interesting meetings”.
The Gers won the Premiership by 25 points after Celtic only managed to draw with Hibs on the final day.
Whelan claims Rangers are on the verge of another dominant era as Gerrard looks to the challenge of the Champions League.
“It’s massive, the backing from the board,” Whelan told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.

“Gerrard never rested on his laurels as a player. He manages like he played.
“Gerrard goes out to win every single game. He’s still got that desire and hunger to win football matches.
“That’s what you need, it rubs off on players. He’s looking to the next challenge which is the Champions League next year.
“He needs to retain the Scottish Premiership and try to do the treble. That’s the next step. It’s a really exciting summer for them ahead of next year.
“If they add players to what they have now, it looks very difficult for Celtic to shake them off. It’s looking like the start of another dominant era.”
Rangers can look forward to their first Champions League campaign in a decade if they make it through the qualifiers.
Gerrard’s side reached the Europa League’s round of 16 stage this season before they were knocked out by Slavia Prague.
