Following a recent report which claims that Liverpool are set to offload winger Lazar Markovic, Newcastle United should get ready to pounce.
According to The Mirror, Jurgen Klopp has made the winger available this summer for £12 million, which has interested Watford.
Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez should take the opportunity to swoop on the Serbian in order to bolster his squad’s attacking prowess.
The Toon boss will need to recruit wisely over the summer in order to prepare the squad for a Premier League return.
In order to survive in the top tier of English football, the former Liverpool boss will have to strengthen his club’s goal scoring capabilities to make sure that the Magpies don’t follow last season’s relegated side’s Middlesbrough and Sunderland.
Markovic would provide the perfect contribution to Newcastle’s 2017/18 Premier League campaign.
The 23-year-old joined Liverpool in 2014 but struggled to secured a regular first team spot, which resulted in a number of loan-spells.
While on loan at Hull City last season the attacker showed that he still has pace and his abilities could be exploited even further within a new club.
Recruiting the attacker for a cut-price £12million deal should strengthen the club’s options and would be a smart piece of business.
The winger has made just 34 appearances throughout his three years at Liverpool, and has scored three goals.
If Markovic made the move to Newcastle it would allow Benitez to show he is assembling a squad that can avoid relegation next season.
The Serbia international is talented but needs the playing time in order to fully provide for a club, and the newly-promoted club would be wise to swoop in on the star.
In other Newcastle transfer news, they have been offered the chance to sign a top-flight captain.
