Everton defender Ashley Williams has become an integral part of the club’s good form this season after managing to settle at Goodison Park.
The 32-year-old moved to the club in the summer from Swansea and came with a huge reputation.
He helped captain Wales to the semi-finals of the European Championships and had been a consistent performer in the Premier League for a number of seasons.
However, there were huge question marks over his ability after a disappointing start with the Toffees.
The centre-back took time to adjust to life at Everton and under Ronald Koeman, with some fans questioning whether they had signed a player reaching the twilight years of his career.
Williams has managed to prove any doubters wrong and is now a crucial part of the side.
Everton are unbeaten in their last nine Premier League games and Williams has played every minute.
The Merseyside club have managed to sure up their defence and the leadership qualities of Williams are certainly shining through.
He has an intelligent defender that is fantastic in the air, while also having the technical ability to pick a pass as well.
Everton are now dreaming of obtaining a top four place and are only six points adrift of the fourth-placed Arsenal.
Koeman has managed to complete a good turnaround after a underwhelming start, but they now look like a side who can beat anyone in the league.
Star striker Romelu Lukaku may be grabbing the headlines for his exceptional goal exploits, but the impact of Williams on the side can’t be underestimated.
In other Everton news, a Sky Sports pundit has delivered his verdict on the club’s top four hopes.
