Woodman tipped to accept ‘attractive offer’ and leave Newcastle in January after development – Kenny

Freddie Woodman could ask to leave Newcastle in January after losing his place in the side.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, about Woodman’s predicament.

Woodman, 24, made Premier League four appearances for Newcastle at the start of the season.

However, he conceded 12 goals and was dropped in favour of Karl Darlow.

He failed to make the matchday squad for the first time this season after Martin Dubravka returned to fitness in Newcastle’s last game against Brighton.

Kenny claims Woodman developed a taste for first-team football while on loan at Swansea over the past two seasons and insists he could leave St James’ Park as a result.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Ben Wild whether Woodman could push for a transfer in January, Kenny said, “Yeah, he could 100 per cent leave.

“He’s the number three at Newcastle now, he’s barely involved and he hasn’t played a lot of games for the club.

“He’s had two decent loan spells at Swansea and racked up a lot of games for them.

“I’m sure he’s missing that feeling of playing week in week out.

“The one thing he won’t want to do is sit on the bench at Newcastle. Though he hasn’t been on the bench recently, he’s not involved.

“If the chance of a move comes, I wouldn’t be surprised if he pursued that.

“Any club that offers first-team football will be attractive to him.”

Woodman, who Football Insider understands from a Newcastle source is valued at around £10million, made 95 appearances for Swansea over two loan spells.

His last outing for the Swans came in last season’s Championship play-off final.
