Alan Hutton couldn’t hide his delight after Rangers confirmed the signing of striker Kemar Roofe in a big-money deal.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the ex-Ibrox star revealed he “couldn’t believe it” when he saw the announcement on Instagram.
Rangers have agreed a deal worth more than £10million in total, including fee, wages and signing-on fee.
Hutton believes the club will be “over the moon” after luring the 27-year-old to Glasgow.
“It’s an absolutely massive signing, I can’t believe it,” Hutton told Football Insider.
“I was looking at my phone and it popped up on Instagram of all places, I’ve seen it and thought where’s this come from?
“Obviously, I knew Rangers were looking at him but they’ve been doing so for a very long time. Wow, what a signing.
“It got the blood going, I was excited looking at it so they must be absolutely over the moon.
“They’ve got a fantastic player there, I know he’s had his injuries last season but I played against him and he’s a fantastic player.
“Whether it’s with the ball at his feet, scoring goals or running in behind, I think he’s an amazing addition to the squad.”
Roofe endured an injury-ravaged campaign in Belguim last term, but still managed seven goals in 16 matches.
The former Leeds hotshot told the club’s official website his delight after finalising a four-year contract this week.
